Listen

It's like the biggest kept secret in hip hop music. All this talent down here in Atmore, Alabama. It didn't just start. My mom and auntie were singers and both never did much more than sing in the church choir. My mom did fulfill her dream of singing at the Apollo. That was in 1989. I was one. I don't remember. Then she became a DJ. I credit her for exposing me to music and The Arts. She always said it was very important to know music, movies, theatre, books and stuff like that. Right now, I can name a song within the first few notes. Doesn't matter what decade it's from. Doesn't matter what genre. She made me listen to it all. Beethoven, Bach and them; The Beatles, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry; Parliament, Ohio Players, and Earth, Wind and Fire. I owe her a lot for that part of my education. Good lookin' out, Mom.
